Let’s face it, having a pool is one of the great things about living in KwaZulu-Natal. But if you’ve had your pool for a while now, or have just moved into a house with an existing pool, it might just be time to give your pool an upgrade to ensure it functions at its peak while still making your backyard look beautiful.
If you’re not sure whether your pool is due for a renovation, we’ve put together some signs which should give you a good indication.
It doesn’t look it’s best
If you’re starting to see visible signs of decay and breakage in or around the pool, you should be considering a renovation. Deterioration can include but is not limited to discoloured spots and or cracks or blisters on the pool surface, any rust, and leaks.
Fading
If you have a vinyl lining on your pool, you can often expect about ten to fifteen years before needing a replacement. Unfortunately, factors like excessive sun and chemical exposure can shorten this life expectancy. Keep an eye out for any visible signs of fading, leaking or tearing in your vinyl. It should give you a good idea of whether you should renovate your pool or not.
The equipment has been around for a while
The advances in pool equipment have been phenomenal, enabling users to benefit from more cost effective and energy efficient equipment that delivers better performance than their older counterparts. If you’re struggling with power bills or to keep your pool clean, you might be due an equipment upgrade.
Other hazards
An older pool can start to show its age, which also means that tiling can begin to come loose or the electric features don’t work like they used to. These are all serious hazards, and can put a serious damper on a pool day if something goes wrong.
